1 takes the form of a most interesting Guide to most of the North-Country places associated with the Brontes. As a Guide Book, it is admirably up-to-date, with its accurate and detailed instructions for reaching each place by road. With such a book in his hand, he must be a dull-witted person who could go astray. But it is much more than a list of instructions for reaching a number of interesting places. Having led the visitor to the destination intended, she gives him the history of the place before the Brontes knew it; why they came there and what it was like in their day ; how it was connected with their lives and what happened to them while there; how it impressed itself on their minds, and how it came to life, years afterwards, in their writings. 178pp. Size: 8vo Medium (8" x 5½" approx.) Illustrated by A. E. Whitehead. Dust wrapper in protective, removable sleeve. Introduction / preface by Donald Hopewell.
