Modern Diesels in Focus - B. J. NicolleIan Allan, 1979, Hardback in Dustwrapper..
Condition: Very Good — in Very Good Dust Wrapper. Small nick to the bottom corner of the upper panel. Leans slightly.
Illustrated with black and white photographs. From the cover: “Diesels appeared on British main lines as early as 1955, but it was only in 1968 that they gained pre-eminence, with the withdrawal of the last pockets of steam. In the 1970s they predominated in BR’s motive stud, although by now some of the initial less successful, or less numerous classes — particularly the Class 24s and 44s have started to diminish in number. However the withdrawals are chiefly due to the arrival of the Class 56s and although a total of 90 of the latter have been ordered, the final production number is likely to be well in excess of this figure.
