From the introduction: “Reprint . Covers all models up to the LDB. The Motor-Scooter represents a major revolution in the field of personal transport and is now to be seen on the roads of Britain in its tens of thousands. Socially it is a cut above the motor-cycle proper. Probably, too, for that reason it appeals to a different type of owner. About eighty per cent of motor cycle owners are mechanically-minded, love to tinker with their machines and do most of their own overhauls and general maintenance work. Motor-scooter owners, as a class, are oppositely inclined. At least 80 per cent of them are completely non-mechanical in outlook or ability, and nearly a quarter are women.”
