The Coldest Climb - Art Davidson

The Bodley Head, 1970, Hardback in Dustwrapper..
Condition: Very Good - in Good+ DJ. Very slightly ruffled edges of DJ, slightly soiled at rear fold-in, otherwise a very well presented copy.

In January 1967 eight men - four Americans, a Japanese, a New Zealander, one Frenchman and one Swiss - attempted the first winter ascent of Mount McKinley, Alaska, the highest mountain in North America. They faced some of the severest conditions ever encountered by man: on the mountain the temperature can drop to 6o°F. The summit was conquered, but not without loss of life and considerable suffering. The author, who was one of the three men who made the final climb, tells the story, day by day, sometimes yard by yard, of an expedition which was both a triumph and a disaster. Illustrated with B&W photographs. 218pp. Size: 8vo Demy (8½" x 5½") Jacket Designed by Yvonne Skargon. Dust wrapper in protective, removable sleeve.
