From the cover: “Robert Greacen, born in Londonderry in 1920, was brought up in Belfast, and educated there and at Trinity College, Dublin. His first poems and articles appeared while he was still a schoolboy. Since then he has published two books of verse and three of prose, and has contributed to a wide range of English and Irish journals. Some of his work has been broadcast by R.T.E. and the B.B.C. in Belfast. An early poem, The Bird, has been included in several anthologies. An anthologist himself, he co-edited with Valentin Iremonger the Faber Contemporary Irish Poetry in 1949. His last book, Even Without Irene, was a re-creation in prose of his early life in Ireland. In 1971 the Arts Council of Northern Ireland awarded him a Literary Bursary. He was awarded a prize in the 1974 Keats Poetry Competition. Since 1948 Robert Greacen has lived in London where he works as a teacher of English and a freelance writer.”
