This book describes the uniforms and organisation of the lancer and dragoon regiments of the German army in the period leading up to World War I. Like the cuirassiers and hussars of the same era, the lancers wore splendid uniforms which had more in common with the flamboyant days of the Napoleonic wars than with the grim realities of 20th century warfare. The dragoons were dressed in rather less colourful uniforms, in keeping with their role of mounted infantry. The author also gives an account of the Bavarian chevaulegers, or light horse, of the period. 128pp. Size: 9½" x 7¾" Dust wrapper in protective, removable sleeve.
