Illustrated frontispiece. The Savile Club, at the time of writing (in the winter of 1957) is very nearly ninety years old. In early days it changed its name and it has twice changed its address since it took its name from Savile Row. It has never, as this brief history will show, changed its character. It began as an association of professional men with a wide range of occupations and of tastes, and this it has remained. It was never a rich club and it has sought to make entrance easy for the younger men of the required quality who could not cope with the entrance fees and subscriptions of the costlier London Clubs.
