Kate's House - Harriet WaughWeidenfeld & Nicholson, 1983, Hardback in Dustwrapper..
Condition: Very Good — in Good Dust Wrapper. Gently faded at the spine of the dust wrapper. Leans. Pages lightly age-tanned.
From the cover: “Kate, aged four, living with her parents in Wimbledon, is given a dolls’ house for Christmas. Contrary to her mother’s wishes she does not create a family house like her own. Instead she peoples it from stray suggestions that her observation and experiences bring to her. As she begins to play with it strange things start happening in a seedy rooming house in Westbourne Park. The MacDougals, recently come down in the world, encounter a Princess exiled from her native African country. And when Kate discovers to her annoyance that she is to have a sibling, Margery MacDougal finds that she is inexplicably pregnant. She can only suppose that the event heralds the Second Coming. Nurse Mooney, an eccentric but essential part of the establishment comes to her assistance. Other tenants arrive and a bizarre comedy is played out as they strive for normality whilst, unknown to them, a four-year-old child, playing God to her dolls, creates dangerous chaos in their lives.
