From the cover: “There were not a score of them, or a hundred or five hundred. At a rough count there were at least ten thousand of them. They were wild horses, or fuzz-tails, and as they pushed down from the mountains to the range country of Nevada they threatened to ruin the enormous Sage Valley range. Somehow those ten thousand mustangs had to be killed. But how? That was the problem. Bill Kavanaugh, who was range-boss of the Star Cattle Company, took the problem to Abel Gordon, a down-and-out rancher, and his pretty wife Lizzie. Abel and Lizzie signed the contract to kill the mustangs and sell the hides - but they hadn't bargained for the wild winter and exciting events which lay ahead.”
