Mrs. Landemare describes this book as 'practical recipes for discerning cooks.' She has been associated with Sir Winston and Lady Churchill since the early twenties. At first she did temporary work - Scotland in the Autumn, Newmarket during racing week, ball suppers, Chartwell during week-end parties - but in 1939 she offered Lady Churchill her full-time services, remaining with her until 1954. In her foreword Lady Churchill writes: " Mrs. Landemare's food was delicious. She is an inspired and intuitive cook, and it is I who encouraged her to write this book." Altogether some 360 recipes are de- scribed, from pot-au-feu to a wedding cake.
