From the cover: “A kangaroo “joey” is born on the plains some time after his father has been killed by stockriders. When the joey is still a baby he is attacked by dingoes but some black fellows rescue him and sell him to a white man named Tyler. Tyler’s small daughter, Maudie, makes a great pet of the ioey which she calls Boomer. Living in the paddock he grows very tame and has boxing lessons from an old swagman, Bluey.”
