The Story of Edinburgh Crystal - H. W. WoodwardDema Glass, 1984, Hardback in Dustwrapper..
Condition: Very Good — in Very Good Dust Wrapper.
Illustrated with photographs, in colour & black and white. From the preface: “Here briefly is the story of glassmaking and glass decorating in the Edinburgh region, tracing in particular the progress of one firm now the sole survivor of the crystal glass manufacturers of the area, placing the firm in its historical context. In recent years Edinburgh Crystal has moved from antiquated premises to modern, well equipped works, using sophisticated furnaces and plant to meet the challenge of the present and the future, in design, making, and decorating. Maintenance of high quality in these fields is most critical to the firm’s well-being. Even so, in the crafts of glassmaking and decorating, methods have remained basically the same through the centuries. These skills, now being practised by an encouraging number of younger people, are enhanced by peripheral technological improvements. It was thought desirable to record the story of the past, with an account of today’s achievements, giving cause for both pride and optimism.”
