From the cover: “The conquest of physical disability connects the many episodes of this unusual autobiography. Flying helped the author literally and spiritually to rise above the weak heart, poor eyesight and polio which hampered her childhood. As Press Secretary at Heston Airport in a forgotten chapter of history, piloting herself to a chain of aerodromes, she combined business with pleasure in the golden age of private flying. When war came she joined the civilian ferry pilots who supplied the Royal Air Force.
