He became successively Organist of the Chapel Royal, first Gresham Professor of Music, and the Queen’s Master of Music. He secured the Queen’s pardon by fooling in her presence, when his life was forfeit for duelling. Bull served his country not only as a composer, but in secret service on the Continent.”
