He recalls the earliest attempts to put theory into practice, the subsequent successful development in the hands of Karl Benz, Gottlieb Daimler, Emile Levassor, Herbert Austin, Dr. Lanchester, Montague Napier and many others, and describes the motor cars which were the result of their inspiration and effort.
