ln 1971 Edward Paisnel, the son of wealthy Jersey landowners whose roots go back to the fourteenth century, was convicted of thirteen sex offences against young children, and sentenced to thirty years' imprisonment. Paisnel was a Jekyll and Hyde figure who terrorised the island for eleven years. He was obsessed with the powers of evil, and he worshipped the wicked fourteenth-century Black Baron Gilles de Rais, alias Bluebeard. This is the authors account of the evil cunning with which Paisnel evaded the police for so long.
