Contend No More - Michael TreeJonathan Cape, 1958, Hardback in Dustwrapper..
Condition: Good+ — in Good+ Dust Wrapper. Unlaminated dust wrapper a little edgeworn and faded. The pages are somewhat tanned, if tight, and a little musty.
From the cover: “Separated from his wife Madeleine after a quarrel, Nicholas Brelf leaves ‘party life’ in London to go, as it were, into retreat as assistant-secretary to a hospital in the Midlands. By this different environment the more aggressive side of his nature is subdued, and although he is unable to resist the advances of a young girl in the office his whole attitude to life becomes more mature. He is helped by the eccentricity of his chief, Major Batch, and by the placidity of a new friend, Roger. But his intellectual confusions have not been resolved when his wife writes to ask him for a divorce. His decision is precipitated by a visit to her.
