From the cover: “In the late 1960s the USAF began looking for a new air superiority fighter to succeed their existing front-line aircraft — the Century series and F-4 Phantom. Immensely successful with the F-4 Phantom, McDonnell Douglas’ design team came up with the F-1 5 Eagle, a classic fighter which quickly won a number of time-to-climb world records from the Russian MiG-25 Foxbat. By 1 April 1980 520 F-1 5s had been delivered and were in service with USAF units, with export orders received from Israel and Japan.
