When Danny's friend, Professor Bullfinch, kept his latest invention a deep secret, Danny suspected that it must have something to do with "security". But when he found a stranger from Washington shadowing the Professor, he was certain of it. Obviously Danny had to provide proof of the spy's activities if anyone was to believe his story, so the first thing was to find out for himself just what the Professor had invented. With his friends Joe and Irene, Danny put in some careful detective work which eventually landed them all in an old barn full of complicated scientific apparatus.
