In 1939 Antony Bridges, incapacitated for the more orthodox kinds of active service, secured for himself the extraordinary job of carrying high explosive in a small sailing-yacht from Scrabster in Caithness across the fierce waters of the Pentland Firth to Scapa Flow. First of all the yacht had to be sailed the 800 miles up to the north of Scotland, in the middle of the wartime winter, with his wife and Commander Irving as crew; his account of this forms a minor epic in itself. Thereafter came the hazards of dynamite-ferrying successfully carried out in most adverse circumstances; 229pp. Size: 8vo Large Post (8¼" x 5") Jacket Designed by Biro. Dust wrapper in protective, removable sleeve.
