Scarthin Books, 1989, Paperback.
Condition: Very Good. Gently rubbed at the edges of the spine and wraps.

First in this, paperback, edition. Illustrated with black and white photographs & maps. From the author’s preface: “The walks in this guide follow the same formula as those in my Peak District guides. They are all in attractive countryside. Most important of all, they were worked out to suit the interests and stamina of children, although they are not exclusive to families, and many other walkers may find this hook suited to their taste. The more strenuous parts of a walk are nearly always within the first half, with easier, often downhill walking to complete the journey. Road-walking is kept to a minimum, and where it is unavoidable only short sections are involved. All the walks have several focal points which both break up the journey and are attractive to children, such as woods, streams, ponds and weirs, rocks to scramble on, trees to climb, historical relics to explore, interesting wildlife and good picnic spots. In addition, where possible the walks happen on a wayside inn or tea-shop roughly midway along.”

Size: 8¼" x 5¾". In the Family Walks series. 78 pages.
