The Golden Rendezvous - MACLEAN, AlistairFontana Books, 1964, Paperback.
The novel opens in Carracio harbour, where the s. s. Campari rides her moorings in the sweltering heat of a tropical afternoon waiting to put to sea. For Johnny Carter, the Chief Officer, the voyage had already begun badly; but it only when the Campari has sailed that evening after an odd succession of delays, that he has an indication of something seriously wrong on board. A member of the crew is suddenly missing. A search erupts into violence and Carter realizes that himself, the Captain, the pampered passengers and the lovely Susan Beresford are in extreme danger; that they and the Campari's strange cargo are involved in a crime far more explosively sinister than simple piracy.Reading Copy Only.
