This copy was formerly in the library of the eminent agricultural author and bibliographer G E Fussell, and bears his signature and accession date on front free endpaper. The standard reference on the reclamation of the forest during the inclosures of the Hanoverian period, and a considerable tribute to the Knights (father and son) whose vision and enterprise made it possible. Fussell wrote profusely on a wide range of agricultural and rural matters; but is probably best remembered for his standard bibliographies ''The Old English Farming Books 1523 to 1730'' (1947) and ''More Old English Farming Books 1731 to 1793'' (1950).
